Super Bissorte Dam Monitoring
The Pont des Chèvres dam was built in 1968, as part of a large hydraulic program grouping a number of large dams in the Maurienne valley, in the French Alps.
Due to projected tunneling works in the area, the frequency of monitoring needed to be dramatically increased. It was decided to switch from regular field measurements to a continuous monitoring using Geocubes in 2021, to confirm drilling operations had no effect on the site.
Monitoring is due to continue for several years. Despite surrounding mountains which hamper the skyview and harsh weather conditions in winter, the Geocubes send continuous precise data to the monitoring teams in charge of the project.
